Berlin: Who Will Go?

God’s grace atones for sin and removes guilt. Isaiah’s experience of God’s holiness and His gift of saving grace causes him to respond to God’s commissioning question of “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” with a hearty “Send me.” That grace spreads from Isaiah to Judah and Israel bringing God’s people to the “wells of salvation” (12:1-6).

We are in the second half of our church planting internship with Redeemer International Church in The Hague and are very grateful for all that we are learning. We are gearing up for a move to Berlin in March 2018. God continues to make it clear that He wants to do something exciting and different through this church plant. One of the main things we are doing in this next season is praying for and recruiting a church planting team to join us as we respond to God’s commission. “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Will you join us as we head into Germany’s capital city to share God’s grace with the people of Berlin?

On Saturday 1st July, we hosted a UK based prayer day for the Berlin church plant at New Community Church, Sidcup. It was super encouraging to see so many New Ground friends and family come and support us in prayer. Our fellow church planting friends Pete & Sabine did an outstanding job at helping to host the day. Sabine and her team cooked a German dish of Konigsberger Klopse and a variety of Kuchen for the 50+ who attended. We spent the morning praying into some core values for the church plant. In the afternoon we had a great time of worship and prayer celebrating the victory of Christ over Berlin as well as praying for the team. Thank you to all of you who attended and shared encouragements with us.

During August, we enjoyed a week exploring Berlin, meeting local friends, other church pastors and praying for God to do extraordinary things. Pete did a guided cycle ride around some of the alternative creative boroughs of Berlin that we’ll be looking to impact with the gospel. At the end of the summer we got to profile the church plant a bit at Ashburnham 2017. It was great to spend time praying in the Prayer Centre and sharing our heart for the city with New Ground friends.

“Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Whether you are friends and family cheering us on, committed to praying for us, or considering being part of this church plant, we would love you to join us in Berlin for our next Prayer Day, Saturday 28 October 2017. This day will be an opportunity to pray together, connect with God's heart for the city, and to get to know the team who will be moving to Berlin in early 2018.
