Epsom Church Plant

Church planting is in our DNA and is something that becomes a wonderful and fulfilling way to outwork God’s call on our life. Abi and I were married in 2002 and we chose to be a part of Oasis Church in Birmingham, a church plant from Bedford. This was our first experience of what it meant to be involved in the process of church planting. It was inspiring to hear the amazing steps of faith and testimony that David Stroud and others took as they left Bedford to set up their new home in Birmingham.

In 2004, we felt God call us to be a part of the leadership team that planted a Newfrontiers church into Bromsgrove, on the outskirts of Worcestershire. This was an exciting and exhilarating step for us; being part of something new and seeing a new family grow quickly. Personally, I grew with what felt like huge steps of faith, trusting God as I went part time as a teacher which enabled me to serve the church family more.

In 2010, God called us as a family with two children, to the South East where I started teaching in a secondary school in Cheam. The very idea of a church plant in Epsom was formed in our hearts from the very first day we visited. We love the beauty of the area; it’s the gateway to both London and the stunning North Downs, but more than that we love the people. There are 80,000 people in Epsom and Ewell and we believe that God has called us to plant a church that will not just serve Epsom but people that live all along the A24 from Leatherhead to Stoneleigh.

As the years have progressed, we have seen God’s hand shaping and leading us to this point and we are full of faith for what he might do in this new venture. Of course Abi and I have a passion to see people brought into God’s kingdom, that’s why we are here. However, we also sense a mandate to partner with God to see people healed, set free, chains broken and people walking in greater freedom.

We live on ‘The Wells’, an area of housing where once there was a well that people from miles around used to frequent, in order to experience physical healing. Today this well is blocked but we believe that God wants to open new wells and bring greater physical, emotional and spiritual healing through this church plant. We trust that as we step out in faith we can begin to impact the lives of those around us.

The second and fourth Sunday of every month we will be gathering at our house for a meal, testimonies and sharing vision and values. We made a great start this last Sunday 12th January where there were 26 of us together, 14 adults and 12 children, including a family who joined us from across our street who are looking for a church! It was a huge success; great food, great conversation and a great platform from which to move forward. Please join us in prayer.
