Seminars – taking place on Saturday afternoon (pick one)
A heart for mercy – Natalie Williams
Mercy is hard to find. We live in a culture that is quick to judge, slow to forgive, and seems to thrive on division. So what does it look like for us to live counter-culturally as those who have received mercy, grown to love mercy, and are being transformed into mercy-bringers? Natalie grew up in relative poverty in the deprived seaside town of Hastings. She became a Christian at 15, which changed her life completely. Natalie has been involved with Jubilee+ since its first year, and took over from founder Martin Charlesworth as Jubilee+ chief executive in April 2021. Natalie is the co-author of four books, including A Call to Act (2020) and Invisible Divides (2022). She is passionate about the church being a place of overflowing mercy, especially for those trapped in poverty.
A heart for diversity – Dara Kolajo, Hannah Silley & Tiffany Clark
We believe that God’s heart and will for us is to thrive in diverse churches. New Community Church, SE London have been on a journey for the past 15 years to intentionally transition from a predominantly white, middle class church to an increasingly diverse representation of the body of Christ. Join Hannah Silley, Dara Kolajo and Tiffany Clark as they share honestly about their different experiences (good and bad!) and their passion to contend for being a part of a multigenerational Church family not divided by race or class. Dara was born and raised in SE London by Nigerian parents. She became a Christian at a young age, but recommitted her life to Christ after backsliding during her late teens to early twenties. She is an IT Business Analyst and is part of New Community Church, SE London where she is a member of the race advisory group. Her desire is for the church to be a place where everyone can be their authentic self, exercising their gifts and talents, bringing glory to God; so that it truly reflects what is seen in Revelation 7:9-10 – a prophetic statement to a watching world.
A heart for the lost – Katherine Brown
It can be so easy to view evangelism as a burden, something you have to do because you’re a Christian. God doesn’t want us to feel like this about sharing our faith. Mission is an adventure that God invites us into. Learning to share your faith in everyday, ordinary ways is so exciting. This seminar aims to take the guilt, fear and shame out of mission, and help you think through the unique opportunities you have. Katherine is based at New Community Church, SE London. She gave her life to Jesus at drama school, and for the past few years has worked helping students to share their faith.
